What types of students is Eleven Fifty geared for?
Eleven Fifty offers two types of courses. The immersion courses run from two to seven days and are designed to attract students from all over the world. Alternatively, we offer eight-week courses that meet three evenings every week that are geared to suit the needs of local students who want to fit this training into their busy lives.
Will I be qualified to be a programmer or app developer after doing a week long class?
It depends on the skills you had before you took the class and whether the class was just a refresher course or a new venture into the world of programming and web development. However, if you want to continue to learn and hone your skills after as little as one course, there is an opportunity to be accepted into our APPrenticeship Program.
What are the time requirements of the courses?
Our courses are an intense, drink-from-the-fire-hose learning experience that will enable you to showcase personally-developed work. Those taking a week-long course should not plan on doing anything but focusing on the course for 10-12 hours per day starting at 8:30am EST. The evening courses meet Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings for 3 hours.
Are these courses easy?
Absolutely not. Unless you’re a programming prodigy (which we hope you are) or have a lot of experience already, these classes will likely be very challenging for you, which is why we have very experienced and seasoned instructors to help guide you through successful completion of each course!
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes! You can bring family members or a friend with you to stay in the hotel. The hotel rooms can generally accommodate one to four people without any extra cost. There are a number of fun things to check out in Indianapolis, including Indianapolis Indians baseball games, Indianapolis Children’s Museum, Indianapolis Colts football games, Indianapolis Pacers games, the Indianapolis Zoo, and several other museums and events. How many people will be in my class?
We target 15-20 students per class, although a class may range from 12-25, depending on circumstances. In addition to an instructor, we have a Teaching Assistant available to help students with questions and assignments.
Can foreign students attend?
Yes! However, we currently don’t have resources for visa assistance if applicable.
What are my payment options?
You reserve your spot by paying in advance via a credit card. If the course does not fill, you will receive a refund for 100% of the registration fee.
Is there an age restriction?
The minimum age is 18, although exceptions can be made with consent from your parents and from us.
Do you offer any accreditations?
Currently, we do not offer accreditations, but we do pride ourselves on giving you the knowledge and proficiency to succeed at the next chapter of your career and/or quest for knowledge. While the hard part is up to you, we are highly motivated to help you achieve a quantum leap in value to your current or future employer, or to yourself if you will be starting your own venture. Some find this type of pragmatic education even more valuable than accredited college courses.
Do I need to bring my own laptop?
Yes, if you have a laptop, please bring it. If you don’t have one, we strongly recommend that you invest in one. However, in a pinch, we can loan you a MacBook during your course, which will require a fully refundable deposit covering the cost of the MacBook. Please let us know in advance if you require a loaner.
Are food and lodging covered in the cost?
Lodging at a nearby hotel is available as an add-on charge using our corporate rate of $99 per night, including daily shuttle service to and from classes and the airport. If you live in the Indianapolis area and want to commute, you can, but we strongly encourage you to go full immersion if you have any distractions at home. Just as with a foreign language, if you want to learn the language fast, you have to immerse yourself and practice extreme discipline. You will get out of this what you put into it.
All meals, snacks, and drinks are provided as part of course fees. Please let us know in advance of any food allergies or preferences. We will try to accommodate as best we can.
